It was the most ambitious national reforestation event in the history of Ecuador.
The target was met. Ecuador achieved a new Guinness World Record for the most people simultaneously growing plants. On the day of reforestation May 16 active participation of 44 883 people, 191 parishes was achieved. The volunteers, who included Scouts, students, government officials and representatives of the private sector, 647 250 plants planted in a total area of 1997 hectares.
