When discussing the law and the legal system scholars often refer to ideas of power and obedience. The law is a form of authority but that authority often needs to be recognized in order for it to have any weight. Why do we obey the law? What happens if we disagree with a specific law? Are we obligated to obey the law all the time or are there circumstances where it is acceptable to disobey or disregard the content of a law?
