About me:

I moved to Canada when I was nine years old, from Brazil. The differences between these two countries are very prominent, and I think that's one of the reasons why I'm so interested in learning new languages and learning about different cultures. I'm also really fascinated by photography and shorts films, mainly social experiments.

In my free time, I like to spend time outside, whether it's swimming, hiking or going on a picnic. I really enjoy talking to people, topics can vary from their favourite colour to their opinions on recent events.

One thing that is really important to me is my faith. I am Christian. I feel like people often associate Christianism with being judgemental. However, I never want anyone to feel pre-judged around me. I want people to feel the most comfortable around me, like they did with Jesus.

Throughout the semester, I’ve focused the majority of my work on mental health, more precisely the stigma that is attached to this topic. I decided to target mental health stigma within four different main groups: Health care providers, youth, workplace and media.

A lot of stigma is attached to the term “mental health”, somehow when it comes to mental illness, society loses all empathy towards sufferers. However, mental health is as important as physical health and we must stop stigmatizing this disease and stop diminishing the people affected by it.
