An Article I came across really caught my attention, 'Poor management' leading to environmental issues at Nunavut's Baffinland mine, says regulator, by John Van Dusen of CBC news (November 8, 2016). In the article, John Van Dusen raises concerns regarding Baffinland’s environmental and waste management at the Mary River iron mine. The Baffinland iron mine in Mary River is located on north Baffin Island, approximately 160 kilometres southwest of Pond Inlet, Nunavut.
In my summary i am going to be talking about a few articles dealing with special education. The more that I see and read on this issue, I realize how much improvement needs to be made.
There are so many issues with the current system. For instance some reports i read talk about the racism when dealing with students and whose receiving special education services. In some cases
There are two recognized types of gender, a man and a woman. There are many types of gender roles of a man and a woman placed by society. The ideas of how one should act and behave, but sometimes this idea are unwelcomed. Stereotypes play a predominate role with society and influences what people believe. People in society are able to go against these stereotypes and be who they want to be. People can break free from stereotypes to be more individualistic.
Green space is becoming less and less across the nation with the increased population and inevitable amount of construction taking place. This is something that is hard to combat as corporate power and money over shines everything. Although, some municipalities and city governments are working towards creating new greenspaces.
Maliseet First Nations people are concerned about the impacts of a future open pit tungsten and molybdenum mine 60 kilometres northwest of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency states in a new report that, “There isn't enough being done to mitigate the impact of the proposed Sisson Brook mine on Maliseet First Nations people”. Though the mining project has been studied and predicted that there will be minimal environmental effects, the Maliseet are concerned for the loss 1253 hectares of traditional hunting grounds, resource gathering, and fisheries.
Deforestation is a continually growing problem across the world. The clearing of trees and declining plant biodiversity comes with several different effects on the world’s environment, namely on climate change.
