Fentanyl: 3 articles to explain why there is a rise in opioids abuse

China, the largest fentanyl producer has banned the manufacture, the sale of fentanyl and other opioid in the country. After 6 months of dialogue between the DEA and the Chinese government, China decided to ban the drugs on March 1 2017. The DEA officials are concluding that the effect of the ban will be a game changer in the United States. According to the DEA the recent seizing of fentanyl was from China. However, even if the ban is active clandestine lab will still continue to manufacture the drugs. Furthermore, drugs can be changed on the chemical level to by-pass the ban.

1. My research question is why there is a significant increase in the consumption of synthetic opiates like fentanyl in North America right now.
2. Journal of Criminology, American Law Journal and Journal of Toxicology
3. Criminology will be helpful to understand the whys of the use of fentanyl because it will provide information about socio-economical actor that can influenced someone to take drug and commit crime.

American Law Journal will be helpful to understand the law that can affect the user, for example if certain drugs were legal before and the user continue to consume it after a ban.

Toxicology will be helpful to understand the danger of fentanyl on the body.
