FUKUSHIMA AND FOREIGN COUNTRIES
Four years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake whose Magnitude was 8.8 happen on March 11, 2011. It was a very big natural disaster. Tsunami came to many places, and many people died. Above all, the Fukushima nuclear power plant have been dangerous. This means that the radiation have still released not only around the factory, but also around the world. The number of patient in Fukushima who suffered from cancer is increasing about more than 6000. Do you know how dangerous do the factory give foreign countries, and how do foreigner feel about the accident?
First of all, I am going to tell you about the influence on Taiwan. According to Taipei Times, 2 business executives were accused of importing food from Fukushima in Japan. Actually, Taiwan government have been afraid of all food made in Japan, because it is possible to contain dangerous of radiation for their health. Therefore, they decided that food products made in Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma and Chiba prefectures have not been allowed since the meltdown at the Fukushima first nuclear power plant. However, the 2 managers pasted false labels, and sold Japanese snacks and soy sauce in their own country although they knew it is an illegally action.
Secondly, I will inform the influence on Canada. According to Green Business, the amounts of Cesium-134 and Cesium-137 were detected in the North American shoreline. It is said that it came from Fukushima first nuclear power plant. The levels was too low, but it may cause physical disease. One expert said he anticipate that such the low cesium levels are gradually flowing these North American shores. It means that he worried about expanding it along the U.S. West Coast from Washington State to California. I think that if the radiation were to be detected inside countries, they would be confused more.
Thirdly, I would like to talk about the influence on China. According to the Japan times, Chinese government asked for the clearly information about the Fukushima nuclear disaster to Japan. They have been also worried about radioactive water leaks from the Fukushima first plant. China and Japan are neighbor countries, so I think they felt a fear more than other countries. Therefore, they gave us some supports. They recommended to make more effective plan to solve the problem. Moreover, Deputy U.N. Ambassador Wang Min said “sounded the alarm bell for nuclear safety.”
In conclusion, Japan have given a lot of bad situation to around the world although there are only 3 examples. To tell the truth, every country admired Japanese technology until the accident happened. All of them, of course including Japanese people, have been afraid of the radiation from Fukushima first nuclear power plant. They cannot eat foods made in Japan or fish in all sea and rivers at ease, because they consider the health damage. Therefore, Japan have to give all accurate information to foreign countries, and we protect their health as much as possible. Then, I agree with Wang Min because I want every countries to repeat such an accident. However, it is difficult to do away with it because it is one of the important electric resource. We need to create other useful electric power plant in the future for human and the earth.
