Random Errors in DNA Replication Play Major Role in Cancer

This week, I saw a very interesting article about the DNA replications causing cancer on this website: https://www.aaas.org/news/random-errors-dna-replication-play-major-role-cancer. It contains a lot of information linking random mutations in the dividing of cells, named R mutations, with different types of cancer. This article explains clearly how R mutations are made and how we can prevent them. It can be prevent by having a healthy way of life like doing exercise, eating healthy and staying away from smoking. Before their studies, people thought that cancer mutations were only caused by heredity or by the environment but this very article proves that R mutations are two-third of cancer mutations. The primary goal of this article is to sensitize people about the importance of living the healthiest way possible and of the early detection and prevention of cancer so that we can detect it and exterminate it before it gets to the point of no return.

In my opinion, this was a great article by its great documentation and its vulgarization that allows it to be understood by the majority of the population so that the message spreads easier. In fact, it was very complete by the addition of different researches so that their thesis is verified by different angles. The fact that they used a 2015’s analysis and another newer and more complex helped a lot to demonstrate the validity of their point. It concludes by mentioning an interesting statistics saying ¨that 42% of cancer cases are preventable, while the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 21% of annual cancer deaths can be prevented.¨ I think that they did a great job expressing the results of those researches. Even if this article was almost perfect, I think that they could have add more details about how the way of life affects the production of R mutations so that we could understand better how it’s important to pay attention to the way we live because it could affect us in a really bad way. In conclusion, this article was a perfect analysis of the R mutations relation with cancer.

I now am encouraged to live a healthy life and say no to cancer

I’m glad I helped you get back on track with your life.
