Walmart in Supreme Court

Walmart, a multi-national company that is making millions and millions of dollars in profit is currently in a debate here is Quebec ! We all know Walmart to be a company that sells cheap things at very low prices, in fact, it is their slogan. But what we don’t know is that they are so powerful that they can, in fact, bypass few laws in order to make even more profit! In fact, Walmart have closed one of its supermarket here in Jonquière, Quebec because the employees wanted to create an union to protect their jobs ! I will cover what happened and how Walmart made furious over 200+ quebecois that used to be employed for this company.

As said earlier, employees of the Walmart in Jonquière wanted to create a union. Of course, Walmart is not very happy with this idea so they have decided to close the store shortly after the procedures to create an union was started. The law, in this case, stipulate that a company can close one of its store if they say they are in financial difficulties but they do not have to proof anything, no documentation to give unless the unemployed employee sue the company in justice but then even, the unemployed employee would need to have solid argument to force a multinational to give such information ! So, basically what that means is that all of sudden, you can loose your job with no notice. As we speak, over 150+ furious employee are suing Walmart for this specific problem, the case is taking major proportion and going all over up to the Supreme court ! Walmart, as of now won the case but it is still active and still being discussed !

I honestly hope that the employee wins because I don’t think it is morally acceptable to fire over 200 employees just because they want to create an union. Even though Walmart claims that they closed the store for other reasons, creating a union is surely one of the main reasons !
