Ben Affleck Begins

Last week, it was announced that Ben Affleck had been cast to play the role of Batman in the upcoming movie "Batman vs. Superman." To say that there were an abundance of reactions would be an understatement. Crowds from a variety of social networking websites expressed their outrage towards the casting choice, saying that Ben Affleck wasn't a good enough actor to take on the role of our dark knight. After all, he had already taken on a role as a superhero known as Daredevil. Although Daredevil made a comfortable profit, most film critics (including myself) rate the film as poor. However, despite the public outcry, Ben Affleck will probably go on to prove these fanboys/girls wrong.
This article by Mark Hughes summarizes why I think Ben Affleck will make a good batman. To summarize, the author believes that the casting choice was justified for the following reasons. Ben Affleck will increase the box office sales, he is a great actor because he is also a director which gives him more insight about acting, he is not the first actor to be criticized when cast in a superhero movie, he will be developing his character as a writer as well, he might go on to create more batman movies after this role, and, finally, he is a very hard worker.
I believe that before we can go on and criticize Ben Affleck, let’s remember that Michael Keaton and Heath Ledger were also thought to be mistakes when cast as batman and the joker respectively. Heath Ledger blew my mind as the joker. Personally, I think that The Dark Knight is one of the greatest science fiction films because Heath Ledger took on this role. Of course, Heath Ledger and Michael Keaton have nothing to do with how well Ben Affleck will play Batman, his hard work, talent, and dedication will, and Ben Affleck has all of these attributes. If you have ever seen “The Town” or “Argo” or any other movie he has acted in, you would know that he is a better than decent actor. If you haven’t seen any of his movies, then at what grounds can you judge him?
In conclusion, dear children of the internet, next time you are annoyed while browsing your preferred social networking website when see someone bickering about this casting choice, remember what I have taught you today and set them straight.
