Miley In The Media

by vvr2013 on October 4, 2013 - 3:18pm

In the past two months, I haven't seen a magazine or entertainment show without something to do with Miley Cyrus as a headline. The gossip spotlight has been shining on her ever since her so-called 'risqué' and 'provocative' performance where she pranced around in nude colored bikini style outfit. Let's not forget the 'appropriate' use of the now infamous foam finger. Besides all the hate and criticism this girl has dealt with these past months, she has made it very clear that she doesn't care about the negative criticism. Her close friends and family are all by her side. In a recent ET Canada interview, Miley's mother stated that "people always say 'where is that girls mother?' but I've been here with her every step of the way."

Yesterday, new nude and what news stations are calling 'sexy' photos taken by Terry Richardson were released.

John R. Kennedy of Global News reported:

'Concerned' singer Sinead O'Connor wrote an open letter to the twenty year old who has taken media by storm, advising her that "[the media] will prostitute you for all you are worth, and cleverly make you think it's what you wanted". Miley replied to this via twitter stating: "Sinead. I don't have time to write you an open lettter cause I'm posting and eprforming on SNL this week."

For the first time in a while i'll proudly say good for you Miley. This is your choice, your life and you decide to do with it while you're in the limelight. Whether you regret it in fourty years or not is besides the fact that you should be able to do whatever you want. Along with the rest of the public eye, Sinead has made mistakes in her life and gave herself a reputation, which doesn't entitle her to criticize how you should conduct your life.

It's impossible for people to ignore the media, especially when Miley's tongue is basically hanging below her chin on every cover, but if it bothers people so much, why comment and why pay attention?

To anonymous,
I totally agree with all what you have said about Miley, since she's been on the news 24/7 for the past few weeks, I can't help but read all the stuff they say about her. Lets be real here, she's a superstar, a kind of person that wants to get peoples attention and she's still young - she's trying to see what suits her best. Although the things she's done so far are quite shocking - I will agree with you anonymous on your statement:

"For the first time in a while i'll proudly say good for you Miley. This is your choice, your life and you decide to do with it while you're in the limelight." You know, we're humans and who knows for how long you'll be famous, she's having fun with her fame right now, and as human beings we're allowed to make mistakes and take risk. For the new singers or actors how will they ever know what "suits" them best if they don't put themselves out there.

We all know Miley Cyrus has had a wild streak for the past several weeks in her career. She is exploring all there is to be explored in the life of a famous super star. Maybe there is a reason and some logic as to why she is being so "inappropriate" now with her wild streak. Perhaps her former life as the ultimate teenage girl role model pop star, Hannah Montana, no longer suits her and she is trying to steer those younger girls away from her audience/fan base to make room for the older fans, say in their 18s-20s. Miley just wants to create herself a new fan base by showing her wild side in the mass media.
