Having something to say in the decisions

People do not choose to have a mental illness, they have it that’s all. However, they should have a say on their future. They are the ones with the illness. They live with it day after day. They have the experience and we should take advantage of that.
Councils of the mental health field are mostly constituted of professionals. Normal you would say? Perhaps it isn’t. People with mental illness have been excluded form most of the committee, councils and boards that are in charge of making the decisions that will sorely affect and impact people with mental illness. Those people have a right in deciding what will happen to them, but also have the experience to help making those important decisions. Councils should be constituted of professionals and patients to be sure that we do the best to help the patients and to respect them. Let’s share the responsibility to decide with the ones who are fully concerned.
